Kenya Airways starts non-stop daily flight to/from New York on Oct 28 this year
Kenya Airways today marks a great milestone with the launch of a non-stop flight from New York to Nairobi. A convenient schedule will allow connections to and from over 40 African destinations through its hub in Nairobi, and immediate connections with Arusha, Dar Es Salaam, and Zanzibar, in Tanzania.
Kenya Airways becomes the first airline to offer a non-stop flight between East Africa and the United States of America. Tanzania Airways will follow with direct flights from New York to Dar Es Salaam next year.
The opening of the US destination completes an essential piece for Kenya Airways’ that already serves Africa, Europe, Middle-East, Indian sub-continent and Asia, cementing its position as one of the leading African carriers.
With over 40 American multinationals located in Nairobi and many more across Africa, the launch of daily flights is expected to further spur trade between America and Africa.
Kenya Airways will offer its customers a unique travel experience between two great gateways. It will be the fastest connection from East Africa to New York, with a 15 hours duration eastbound and 14 hours westbound. The ultra-long-haul flight, unique to Kenya Airways network, will require 4 Pilots and 12 Flight attendants as well as 85 tons of fuel each way, making it an exceptional operation. The airline will operate its state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a capacity of 234 passengers.
Air Tanzania Took Delivery of its First Boeing 787 Dreamliner, on July 2018
Boeing delivered a 787-8 Dreamliner to Air Tanzania as part of the airline’s plan to grow its operations across Africa as well as to international destinations, including New York in 2019.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an all-new, super-efficient family of commercial airplanes, which allows airlines to profitably open new routes, so passengers can travel directly to their destinations and in exceptional comfort
Air Tanzania is based in Dar es Salaam with its hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport. The carrier currently flies to destinations across the region and plans to embark upon intercontinental flights by the end of this year.
